In 2011 Prouille built a completely new school and completely redeveloped play areas to support 21st Century exemplary Catholic education.
Our school has 14 classrooms, a beautifully appointed library, a large hall, a unique Eucharistic Chapel and numerous special purpose areas to cater for Prouille’s extensive Creative Arts and Music programs.
Our school is distinctive in two areas in particular:
- Many aspects of the former school have been included into the new school to ensure our “story” is retained in a unique way.
- Prouille was established in the Dominican tradition and there are numerous signs and symbols to promote this aspect that we are so proud of.
Computer Technology – ICLT
All classrooms have computers (PCs and laptops), ipads, printers, data projectors and interactive whiteboards to support and enhance all areas of the curriculum.
Classroom technology is continually upgraded; additionally, extensive Professional Development for all teachers K-6 re technology is integral in the school’s Strategic Planning.
Library
Prouille Library is used for information skilling, co-operative planning and borrowing. A wide range of resources is available to support classroom curriculum implementation. The computer network provides access to the internet for data gathering. Children are encouraged to use the library regularly. Children borrow during library lessons, before school and at lunch time.
Prouille students are enthusiastic about the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge. There is keen competition between classes to see which class reads the most books.
Book Week is a major highlight for the students, who look forward to the visits from interesting authors and the exciting Book Week Parade.
Prayer Garden
In 2009, Year 6 (with expertise and help from some kind parents) created our Prayer Garden as their farewell gift to Prouille.
The garden has become a beautiful prayer space for our school and a special place of remembrance.
It grows in significance as more and more memorials and symbols are increasingly included in this lovely garden.
Sustainability Garden & Solar Initiative
On Friday 16 May 2014 Prouille launched our Solar Initiative & Sustainability Garden.
Year 6 (with expertise and help from parents & friends) created a wonderful Sustainability Garden. The produce from this garden will be used for fundraising and creating meals for “The Dish”.
Our Sustainability Garden & Solar Initiative have a direct link to English & Maths within The New Australian Curriculum under the Sustainability Perspective priority.
